The first single on Unbroken is “Had it all,” a pop meets county song. It’s a different sound for her and I like the direction of the song. I think her duet with Jason Reeves , “Terrified,” should be her second single. I think it would be a big hit for Katharine, it screams radio hit, and that acoustic mid tempo sound is pretty popular right now. “Terrified” sounds a lot like a Jason Reeves and Colbie Caillat collaboration. It has that magic free flowing feel to it. There are more stand-out tracks on Unbroken. “Last Letter” is a fun song about using the guy to write a song and then getting over him; “Surrender,” a love ballad that’s very catchy and beautifully written; and “Say Goodbye” is a gloomy ballad that makes you feel so sad and alone but makes you listen again. Katharine really sounds so amazing on this track. “It’s not right” is a really enjoyable track that’s fun to sing along with. On the title track “Unbroken” you can feel the pain of the song; it’s a very deep and depressing. I’m a sucker for a sad love song so I adapt to the slower tracks on this album. Overall this is a great album with many different feelings and emotions. Her voice is so angelic and pure on this album. I can play this album start to finish and be very happy. I give Unbroken 4/5 stars. Good job Katharine McPhee.
